Is Civil Marriage a Civil Right? (10/22/09) General Body Meeting
There are a TON of topics discuss when dialoguing about LGBT rights and liberties or the lack there of in our Hetero sexual male dominated society. One of the pushing elements of this discussion, to the point of being a partial determinate of the 2004 election, was the topic of Civil Marriage.
Join us discuss the dialogue surrounding Civil Marriage and other issues facing the LGBT communities as well as how it applies to us individually, communally, and nationally. Â
Maryland's Next Best Dance Crew Auditions
In our ongoing campaign to bring awareness to sexual assault and abuse on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, we have decided to host a MARYLAND'S NEXT BEST DANCE CREW event in which we will raise awareness of the issue and raise funds for the University's SARPP (Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Program) center which counsels students as needed.
The Event will be DECEMBER 4, 2009. Before we put together our roster for who will participate in the program we must see what you can do. This event is a competition but is open to ALL forms of dance to attend. The audtions will be October 27-28 in the University of Maryland's Art Socy building from 7pm-10pm. If you cannot make the set audition time please contact us so that we can make arrangements. Also, the winner of the actual competition on December 4, 2009 wins a CASH PRIZE as compensation for their success.
THESE AUDITIONS ARE FOR ALL DANCE CREWS/TEAMS/CLUBS. NOT ONLY FOR GROUPS AFFILIATED WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND.

COMMUNITY ROOTS is fundamentally an activist based organization that works to unite the different ethnic communities at the University of Maryland to be heard as a united voice for change. Our goal is to motivate and inspire the ethnically diverse student body of the University of Maryland to take definitive action in the face of domestic and international social injustice. In our attempt to combat social injustice we are determined to create an environment in which people from different cultural backgrounds can foster true camaraderie.
We meet every Thursday in 1304 Marie Mount Hall at 6:00 pm. All are welcome.

C-Roots 101 – Responsible for developing leadership abilities in new members of C-Roots (especially freshmen & sophomores), providing an introduction to the fundamentals of grassroots organizing, developing the (r)evolutionary solution oriented mindset of new members to increase the knowledge base and consciousness of the organization, providing practical and applicable experience in event planning and facilitating for 101 members and encouraging 101 members take leadership roles in C-Roots and facilitate 101 the future.
